Background

Vaskapu is a natural wine estate in Mohács led by winemaker Géza Galán. After years spent working in media, Géza found his way back to nature through winemaking: a personal and geographical return shaped by intuition, craft, and place. The rebranding aimed to translate his expressive personality and experimental approach into a cohesive visual identity. The previous labels felt muted and distant; the new direction repositions Vaskapu as a vibrant, confident, and culturally rooted brand on the international natural wine scene. My role covered the full redesign from logo refinement and label system to print collateral and art direction, building a flexible framework that reflects both the energy of the wines and the nostalgic local character of Mohács.

Outcome

The visual identity blends Central-European retro influences with a dynamic, youthful energy. The bold diagonal layout and condensed typography echo mid-century poster aesthetics while remaining distinctly contemporary. Each label uses a unique color scheme (playful yet balanced minimal) creating strong shelf presence and clear differentiation across the range. The refreshed identity positions Vaskapu as both authentic and export-ready: a natural wine brand grounded in story, craft, and place. The result strengthened its recognition and boosted both visibility and sales, embodying the essence of what natural wine stands for: personality, honesty, and vitality.
